  • Entire property (includes but not limited to; a house, an apartment, cabin, boat, treehouse – the host does not reside on the premises during the provision of accommodation).

Short Term Letting (STL) Register

Fáilte Ireland’s Short Term Letting Register for all short term accommodation in Ireland is due to launch shortly after the Short Term Letting and Tourism Bill 2025 is signed into law. The Department of Enterprise, Tourism and Employment, with the support of Fáilte Ireland, is currently progressing the Short Term Letting and Tourism Bill 2025, which will align with the EU regulation for Short Term Rentals (more details below).

The revised General Scheme Short Term Letting and Tourism Bill 2025 was published by the Government in April 2025.

When launched, this national online registration system will require all proprietors who offer Short Term Lettings to register their property/properties annually. For the first time, Fáilte Ireland will be able to provide a picture of all short term accommodation providers across the country. Once registered, each property will be provided with a Short Term Letting registration number for use on all booking platforms (including property websites) and advertisements.

We advise all proprietors who may be unsure of their statutory obligations to obtain any clarification necessary to ensure their statutory obligations are being met.  The ISCF  are continuing to lobby the Government on your behalf via our Stop Scapegoating Self Catering Campaign. All the information is based on the current draft of the legislation and is subject to change. We will communicate further details in advance of the launch as and when we receive them.
