Golf tourism is big business with 400 to 500 golf courses large and small accross the island of Ireland.ONe in every 5 courses is located in Northern Ireland and a quarter of all natural links golf couses in the world along the coast of the island.

Golf Tourism is big business with 93%  arriving by air. Dublin has 63% or arrivals and Shannon has 26% arrivals. The average golf tour group size is 8people staying an average of 7 nights and spending €5,000 per person during that time.

In Ireland 10% of adults play golf at least once a year. With world class golfers like Rory McLlroy who won the PGA Championship in 2012 and again in 2014, with the Masters  in 2025 and 2026. has increased the value for Irish golf by 30%. Shane Lowry from Co Offaly in Irelands midlands, won the Irish Open Championships in 2009 and 2019, the Zurich Classic of New Orleans 2024 and had the winning putt on the 18th at the Bethpage Black, New York Ryder Cup in 2025.

The Wild Atlantic Way region is most popular for golf with 63% of rounds played in this area. Northern Ireland has a strong golf presence with 20% of golf on the island played there. Dublin city is surrounded by Golf Courses with 10% of golf rounds played in this area. The Anciend East Areas has 7% of Gold rounds played in Ireland

Where Will Ryder Cup 2027 Take Place

The Ryder Cup Golf tournament will be in  Adare Manor in the picturesque village of  Adare,  Co Limerick, Ireland  from 13-16 September 2027. This will be followed by 3 days of competition between Europe and US from 17-10/09/2027 on the golf course. The golf competition has 2 teams of the best golfers from US and Europe with a team captain pick the best professional golfers from each country and they play for the honour of winning for the country.   The average spend per day at the Ryder Cup is €500 to €1 mil per day. There is no purse for wining the Ryder Cup, though the PGA decided in 2025 to pay each payer for the first time, though most of the money went to charities of the players choice. The winner of the 2025 Ryder Cup were Europe, but the media following of the game is huge with 50,000 to 65,000  daily visitors to the site. The week will have 225,000- 280,000 visitors to practice and match days.

Where Is Adare in Ireland

The village of Adare is 22 km west of Limerick city in the south west of Ireland. The Ryder Cup competition will take on the grounds of Adare Manor which was bought by J P McManus in 2015 and extensively renovated as a 5 star hotel. The estate has a high wall around the entrance to the left of the main road.

The award winning golf course was origionally designed by Robert Trent Jones Sm in 1995. In 2017 Tom Faio redesigned and rebuilt the course.  Green fees are at a premium legal and all golfers are supported by local caddies, with equipment hire available as well.

The Village of Adare has a population of 1250 people, a line of thatch cottages, 5 pubs, a visitor centre, 2 other hotels and some self-catering as well as a campsite. There is a beautiful catholic church in mock gothic style the middle of the village, with St Nicholas Church of Ireland.

Access to Irelands Golf Courses

You are never far from a Golf course in Ireland and many visitors play 2 courses a day while on holidays here. T-times need to be booked well in advance for the more popular courses.

• The main airports near Adare are Cork (1.5 hrs drive) and Shannon ( 30 mins drive), with Dublin a (3 hours drive).
• Train link from Cork, Dublin to Limerick and there will be a train link to the site.
• A motorway has been built around Adare, so the village is not a through road from Limerick to Kerry.
• Ferry ports are Rosslaire, Dublin Port, and Belfast.

Offering A Property for the Ryder Cup

The official Travel and Accommodation package providers is Ryder Cup Travel Services  This is the only  place to get offer property for rental, linked to a ticketing service for the Ryder Cup.  There are many sites offering to rent your property for the Ryder Cup, but do not expect a booking. make sure to list on the official Ryder Cup website, where spectator tickets can also be purchased. The Rules are changing for Short Term Rental and you may end up paying for a webiste listing for some years, and be illegal. The owners of the property is liable for all listings – so be careful.

What are New Rules for Holiday Homes in Ireland

From December 2026 all houses being rented for up to 21 nights as self-catering or short term rentals will have to register with Failte Ireland. A Registration number will be issued and has to be on all advertising for the property.

For Primary Private Properties – You can rent your Primary Private Residence (PPR) for up to 90 nights a year, but it must be registered as with Failte Ireland from December 2026, so can advertise online.

For Second Homes – need to register for Short Term Rental of property. IF a booking is made ahead of the new regulations the booking can be honoured.
